Day 15- Falling into the darkness
Though he will stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. (Psalm 37:24) Sometimes I feel like I need to read this verse to my self over and over to really grasp the concept of it. We are talking about making mistakes here ladies and how we handle those mistakes. When you fall, how do you do it? Do you recover quickly? Or do you sit in guilt wasting hours of precious time? As a Christian I like to call these falls "pit stops". There is two ways that we can be taken by sin. We can do it knowingly where we depart from God and commit blatant sin, or we can accidentally "fall" into sin. Falling into sin usually happens when we are just going through the motions of being a Christian and thinking we have things totally under control, then we hit an unexpected speed bump. When we commit sin knowing exactly what we are doing the devil just claps his hands and smiles, but when we "fall" into sin on accident he knits together a blanket of contempt and guilt and like the sneaky snake he is, he lays it over us. Satan wants us to feel too ashamed to turn to God when we need Him most. Do not join him under his blanket of demise. We must choose to let these falls become fewer and less turbulent. That way the falls turn in to stumbles and we are able to pick ourselves back up quicker with our head held high knowing that our Lord forgives us and never wants us to sulk in shame. God has not shunned us unholy because we messed up again. He wants us to retreat to Him in times of regret and sadness. He is called our Savior because he SAVES! Did anyone else just hear bells ringing? Or maybe it was just a little sweet chorus in my head singing hallelujah. Thank goodness we have a merciful God, because I am a sinner. Nothing could ever humble you like falling on to your knees and praying to God. We are never too big to show our God how small we really are by collapsing at His feet and praying for His mercy. As Christians we are scrutinized and the enemy is always waiting for us to fall. This is only so they can have a unique invitation to keep us down. So get up gracefully and know that you are forgiven. The devil wouldn't be working on you so hard if you weren't working for God so hard. Remember that.
Do not gloat over me my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. -Micah 7:8
Lord, Today help us understand that Your love is unconditional and You will love us no matter how many times we fail. Thank you for Your mercy and grace that you continually give us everyday. Continue to guide us on Your steady path and be our light and rock on this journey of life.
