Day 9- A deeper vision of yourself; May my inner beauty shine out

Day 9- May my inner beauty shine out

Above all other beauty the most important is the beauty that comes from within us. It is as simple as pie. Who you are on the inside can have complete control of how lovely you appear on the outside. Now most of us know this, but still we put more effort into dolling ourselves up than we do feeding our spirit with things like love, faith, and strength. Those are the kinds of qualities that are adored by others. Can you imagine a world where everything superficial was eliminated and we only viewed others by the color of their heart? Lets say the more red it was the more fruitful and radiant the person appeared to you and the more black it was the more wicked, corrupt, and ugly the person was to you. If you had to pick a color ranging from blackest black to poppy red, what color would your heart be right now? I will share with you that mine would be a muddy mixture of mauve, meaning that there is always room for growth and I think when it comes to serving others before myself I need more prayers and wisdom. The verse I have chosen today gives me chill bumps when I read it because it tells us something extraordinary that God wants us to portray as Christian women, gentle and quiet spirits. Which I believe means spirits who are comfortable where they are. They are still and listen to God when He speaks to them and they are gentle to others and to themselves.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.    -1 Peter 3: 3-4

Lord, Today we need you to show us how to be those gentle and quiet spirits that you adore so much. Please settle our mind from being so concerned with outward beauty and show us that when we nourish our hearts with your words that only then we grow to become more radiant.
