Day 2- Purity; Harvesting a pure tongue

Day 2- Harvesting a pure tongue

When we think of purifying ourselves we never really think of our mouth. What comes out of our mouth is just as important as what is in our hearts. Our words are a testament to who we are. There is always a time to speak about the Lord and what He has done for us. We just don’t always do it. There are also many ways the devil works in our words for his greater good. There are lies, self-loathing, cursing, and gossip to name a few. If we sustain a relationship where we talk to God everyday we can beat this. Pray for Him to make you more aware and to “think before you speak”. Always pray for His will and His words to flow from you in times of need. I have learned lately that there is a time for everything. A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak; (Ecclesiastes 3:7) This verse speaks volumes to me as a woman. It is not always our time to speak our minds. Not that God wants us to be a mute who never says what we are thinking, but I think that it means when you do speak, do it with grace and poise as a faithful woman should.

He who guards his mouth and his tongue, Guards his soul from troubles. –Proverbs 21:23

Lord, Help us harvest a pure tongue. One that always has uplifting and positive words that come off of it. Help us to always think before we speak and speaking only when the time is right. When it is the time to speak what is on our minds, let it be pure and from our hearts, always clean and filled with grace.
